PRE-CONFIRMATIONGRADE 8Our Eighth Grade program meets on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This year of post-B'nai Mitzvah learning focuses on understandings of God, Jewish history, community service, and ethics. All registered students are also eligible to work as aides in Sunday Religious School. The class is taught by Rabbi Sharff and meets in his office. Please note: The registration fee for this class is $100. GRADE 9Our ninth grade program is the first year of our two-year Confirmation program. First year High school students are asked to take one evening of classes at Tucson High School for Jewish Studies (Hebrew High), either Tuesday or Thursday evening. That is the "academic" portion of the year's curriculum. The "Madrikh" (Leadership) potion of the program is a Tikkun Olam program that involves volunteering as teachers' aides in the Religious School for one hour each week. The second half of Sunday morning is spent volunteering at Handmaker home for the aged. Makrikhim also work with Operation Deep Freeze at least once during the year. Upon successful completion of the Madrikh program tenth grade students are eligible for Confirmation year. Please note: The registration fee for this class is $100. |
