John C.A. Judin was born in Los Angeles. He received his BA in environmental studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1988. John and his wife Deb married in 1994. After a brief stay in San Diego, they moved to Tucson in 1995. John served as CFO for a local restaurant chain until he and Deb purchased Scala’s Swim School in 1997. (They renamed it Sunshine Swim School in 2001.) John is an avid skier, bicyclist, wine collector, tennis player, photographer, and aspiring artist. He has also served as a volunteer naturalist, leading elementary school field trips in Sabino Canyon since 1997. John has been enrolled in the Zohar discussion group at Temple since its inception in 2004. John and Deb have one daughter, Karen, who attends religious school at Temple.
