CONFIRMATIONConfirmation or Kabbalat Torah, for 10th grade, is one of the great educational innovations of Reform Judaism. Students in the tenth grade meet with our Rabbis to learn and explore Jewish thought and belief, and challenges to both. Confirmation class meets with Hebrew High on Tuesday nights. The first hour students attend a Hebrew High "content" class, covering any Judaic academic subject (excluding music, dance, film, etc.) The second hour confirmands meet with Rabbi Cohon to discuss Torah and American Culture: issues of contemporary concern to American Jews. The last seven weeks of confirmation class is devoted to preparing for the confirmation service, which is composed and conducted by the Confirmands on the Festival of Shavu'ot. Confirmation is open to 10th graders from Temple Emanu-El and any other locally affiliated URJ congregation. Please note: The Registration fee for this class is $110. |
