What's new at Temple Emanu-El this week? Find out here!

High Holy Day Services

Rosh Hashanah is Wednesday, September 8th and Thursday, September 9th. Please click here for more information on all of our High Holy Day Services.

Youth Programming

Temple Emanu-El offers Youth programming for young people between the ages of 7 - 11 in the Temple Religious School during the main service on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mornings. Students will enjoy a variety of High Holy Day-inspired activities, music, art projects and snacks during the Holy Day morning services. Please call 327-4501 or email April Bauer, abauer@templeemanueltucson.org for more information and to register. Youth Programming will immediately follow the Family Services at 8:45 am.

Tashlich Picnic at Reid Park

Rosh Hashanah 1st Day, Thursday, September 9th at 5:00 pm join us for Tashlich in Reid Park by the big lake next to the Rose Garden, where we shall celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a family picnic, stories, songs and a giant jumping castle by the lake, then throw bread crumbs into the lake, symbolically casting away our sins. Bring bread crumbs to throw, a picnic dinner and non-alcoholic beverages.

Northwest Shabbat Dinner & Services

Join us for Northwest Shabbat Dinner and Services at the Westward Look Resort on Friday, September 10th at 6:00 pm with Rabbi Jason Holtz. For more information or to sign up, call the Temple office at 327-4501.

Simply Shabbat: An Outreach Service

Friday, September 10th at 7:30 pm, join Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon, and Cantorial Soloist Marjorie Hochberg for Simply Shabbat: An Outreach Service. Simply Shabbat is an exploration of the Friday night Shabbat service with explanations of the service, and introductions to Shabbat songs and prayers in a non-threatening, slower-paced, celebration of the Sabbath. Come find out what Shabbat is all about! All are welcome; bring a friend.

Saturday Morning Shabbat Services & Rabbi's Tish

Saturday, September 11th, Saturday Morning Shabbat Services begin at 10:00 am in the Schlanger Chapel with Rabbi Jason Holtz, Cantorial Soloist Marjorie Hochberg, and our Project Ezra Torah readers, followed by the Rabbi's Tish at 12:00 noon in the Board Room with Rabbi Holtz. The Rabbi's Tish is a wonderful opportunity to discuss, argue about and probe the Torah portion of the week immediately after Shabbat Morning Services. It begins with a pot-luck lunch followed by an extended study of the Torah portion of the week.

Songs of Humanity: A 9/11 Commemorative Concert

Saturday, September 11th at 7:30 pm, the 9th anniversary of the attacks of 9/11, the Tucson Multi-Faith Alliance will hold a community prayer service entitled Songs of Humanity: A 9/11 Commemorative Concert at Temple Emanu-El. Musical representatives of many different faith communities will participate in a concert of instrumental and vocal music.

On Wings of Awe

Join Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon and Rabbi Jason Holtz on Sunday, September 12th at 10:00 am for On Wings of Awe, a two-part exploration of the great themes of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur prayer, including an introduction to the music of the best-attended --- and perhaps least understood -- of all Jewish temple events.

Kever Avot Services

Join Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon and Rabbi Jason Holtz for Kever Avot Services, Sunday, September 12th as we remember our ancestors and those we have lost. Services will be held at Sha'arei Shalom Cemetery at 1:00 pm, Evergreen Cemetery at 2:00 pm, and at the Nogales Cemetery at 4:00 pm.
