The Social Action Committee of Temple Emanu-El sponsors and/or participates in many worthy and timely projects that express our Temple's commitment to Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. Help us to make our community and our world a better place! Please contact Jill Rich about any projects that interest you. - Operation Deep Freeze/Operation Hospitality (November-February): Help feed and shelter the homeless at Temple for an evening between November and February. - Refugee Assistance: Assist refugees of different cultures with their basic needs. - Restore a Park Project: Help as Temple members clean and restore a park in the Tucson metropolitan area (1 day in Spring). - Rabbi's Pantry: Provide portable and easily accessible foods for the homeless. - Reading Seed Program: Help plant the seeds of reading in needy children. - B'nai Mitzvah Social Action Liaison: Assist students in completing a Social Action project. - Lost Boys of Sudan: Assist UofA students in purchasing laptop computers for the upcoming year. - Casa Maria Free Kitchen: Interfaith group that shops, prepares, and serves a meal for 300 people. - Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless Mentor Project: Provide a helping hand to homeless and at-risk public school students. |
